No, the 190 didn't come to the US until it was restored (in the UK)

Seeing the 190 reminds me of how few (if any) color pix I've seen of Luftwaffe airplanes and their colors. Anyone else see the similarity in the "2 greens and a tan" to the USAF SEA camo of the 60's & 70's? I'd say almost identical colors.

Hey sorry about posting someone else's photos. Trust me I'm not attempting to take credit for anyone's photos. Frankly I could care less about that stuff. I believe it was discussed in long detail some time ago here the rules and logic on posting photos found on the Internet. If I knew and know who's photos I find online belong to I most certainly give that person credit for them. You pro photographers correct me if I'm wrong but is it OK to post photos found online? Again trust me, I have no problems battling it out about silly warbird stuff at times but I do have just enough courtesy and respect for those who are offended by me posting their photos. If I have offended the owner or owners of the photos I posted I'll sh*tcan them ASAP. And BTW maybe it's just me but I guess I would be flattered if I threw a bunch of photos online somewhere and someone thought they were good enough to post somewhere else.

I just looked at the FHC's facebook page and nowhere does it say not to copy or re-use any photos posted to their site. To the contrary. below is from Facebook's policy.

When you publish content or information using the Public setting, it means that you are allowing everyone, including people off of Facebook, to access and use that information, and to associate it with you (i.e., your name and profile picture, in this case the FHC of which in a previous post I stated the photos were not mine but from the FHC facebook site).

Sorry about that. Hopefully this won't turn into a pissing match on photo rights online and another 30 day ban for me lol :drink3:

Well in doing a bit of research I have found the below information to make the most sense to me. (Or not) lol

Copyright Notice

Even if a document or image on the web does not have a copyright notice, it is still protected by copyright laws. If you are trying to protect your own work, it is always a good idea to have a copyright notice on your page. For images, you should always add watermarks and other copyright information into the image itself using special software, and you should also include your copyright in the text.

When is Copying Something an Infringement?

The most common types of copyright infringement on the web are images being used on web sites other than the owners. It doesn't matter if you copy the image to your computer or point to it on their web server. If you use an image on a web site that you didn't create, you must get permission from the owner. It is also common for the text, HTML, and script elements of a page to be taken and reused. If you have not gotten permission, you have violated the owner's copyright. The only exceptions are below:

A work is in the public domain if it:

•By the federal government, at any time.
•Between 1964-1977 without a copyright notice.
•Between 1923-1963 with a copyright notice, if the copyright was not renewed when the initial term expired.
•Between 1923-1963 without a copyright notice.
•Before 1923.

A U.S. work is still subject to copyright protection if it was published:

•From 1978 - on.
•Between 1964-1977 with a copyright notice.
•Between 1923-1963 with a copyright notice, if the copyright was renewed (To verify renewals, search the Library of Congress' copyright registrations and not the LOC Website, because the online records start in 1978, i.e., after this period. Rutgers University School of Communication, Information and Library Studies has a search tool for verifying renewals of books that were published between 1923-1963. Note that this tool does not search for anything that is not a book, such as periodicals, movies or music.)

So there I go, now I get what I guess I knew all along, again very sorry to the dudes who own those photos. My bad. Just let me know if it's a big deal for you guys of me having those photos posted here and I'll take them down ASAP.

Sorry

If you GOOGLE EARTH 'Paine Field, EVERETT, WA.' you'll see the satellite shot taken Sept of 2011, on a Saturday ( I can tell because of the 'Fly Day' crowds @ FHC). You can also see Yeagans Me-262 sitting on the ramp in front of the alert hanger and the Me-109 in front of FHC. You can also see what an airport looks like covered in engineless gliders, all the early production 787's awaiting their turn in Hgr. 3 (find the water tower across from FHC) for pre delivery change incorp/mods.

Any news on the FHC A6M? I hear it's going to be flying this summer.

Don't know, it was removed over 18 months ago to 'another location on the field' for completion, after sitting on display since the facility opened looking like four solid weekends of 'go get it' by a knowledgeable and dedicated crew could have finished it. But, VULCAN hears it's own drumbeat and they move at their own pace. Now they are gearing up for the Il-2 and putting the F6F back to airworthy, SO........................................................ :? CARPE CARP, sieze the fish

A bit of followup on parts of this. A story in this Fridays (2/10/12) Everett HERALD says that Boeing has indeed bought out ATS' Hgr. 3. ATS moved it's component overhaul facility to the old GOODRICH landing gear building across Hwy 526 from the Boeing Everett Plant. The balance of the story was the usual 'we will recover from this and be back' YADDA-YADDA, BULL F ROGS!!!!! this is auctioning off the farm.

When ATS bought BADWRENCH several years ago I wondered why an Australian Bank/aircraft leasing company would buy an MRO 14000 miles from home, only one real reason, split it up and sell off the risky parts. My guess of a 5 year plan was off by a couple of years, when Boeing leased Hgr. 3 for 787 rework my curiosity level went up, and when Boeing announced they were going to do all phases of the KC-46A in Washington State I knew what was coming next. So ATS keeps (for awhile) the lowest risk component overhaul business, and dumps the tinwork parts, we are watching 42+ years of struggle, effort, guts, 'can do, no sweat', and blood thrown out with the bath water. I would hazard a guess that FHC/VULCAN has already made an offer on Hgr 1.

If you are or were, or know someone who was a TRAMCONIAN, pass this info along as the ship is settling by the stern. As much animosity as I have for BADWRENCH, right now I feel like Dana Andrews in that field in Ontario Ca. in 'Best Years of our Lives', walking amongst the ghosts of yesterday. :(

If you GOOGLE EARTH PAINE FIELD Everet,WA you'll find Hgr. 1. It's about 125,000 sq ft, two stories (office and classroom spaces and a cafeteria on the South side and three major covered bays with a three slot series of nose docks on the North-ish side (there should be 3 737's sticking out). Built in 1991.

Not with any certainty, but having worked in the hanger, it's right around 51000 sq.ft. It would hold a DC-6 or ALLISON 580 plus at one time the Boeing 247, a STARSHIP, a DC-6, and a big carbon fiber antenna assembly project with lots of room to move around in.

Yet another bit of news, Boeing today (2/14/12) said it will build a $25.6 Million Dollar, three stall maintenance hanger on 16 acres on the West side of the field along 25,000 sq ft of warehousing space, 10,000 sq ft of office space, and a refueling dock between Future of Flight and HHF specificallly to maintain the 4 aircraft 'DREAMLIFTER' 747 fleet rather than send them out for routine maintenance as production speeds up on the 787 DREAMLINERS both @ Everett and Charleston. Construction could begin as soon as early Summer this year and completed in Spring 2013.
