I would be prepared to bet a large sum of money, that NO ONE, who rode in the back seat would say that!

In another thread, Peter Arnold commented that this would be the next Spitfire to return to airworthy status.

Sounds a little too steep. First, yes it is a prototype and maybe has wartime history which is nice. However, for my money I would buy 25 hours in a two place Spitfire and see if I really wanted it that bad. Second, I would buy the most historical single place Spitfire I could find and park it. Then I would have a full scale JURCA replica built to be my daily flyer. Maybe even have a second JURCA replica built up as a two place. Then I would retain the remaining 8 million dollars, put with a broker and use that cash flow to fund the fuel, insurance and operation of the replicas.

What have been the actual sale prices (NOT ASKING PRICES) of recent Spitfire sales.....anybody know?

An asking price of $12.8 seems well outside the "bell curve" of reality and represents more a combination of fair market value PLUS a very large dose of the owners ego testing the market place.
