Your pictures are fantastic, they allow us that couldn't make it (including people like me from 'over the pond') to imagine what it was like to not only be at Thunder, but what it is like to participate in such an event. As a commercial pilot and instructor longing to get into warbird flying over here in the UK, I often read your posts with great interest and envy - you are living my dream! Keep up the good work and one day I hope to take up that offer to all and get my check ride in the '25 done with you on your side of the pond!! :mrgreen:

Big Jumps across the Northeast...Ohio, PA, and now New York. Flew down the Hudson today. FAA put new rules in place which requires a study course online. Pretty simple stuff but manditory. The tour helicopters really got a kick of seeing a B-24 trucking down the Hudson. The hardest part is keeping at or below 140kts.

Skypark...15G...where I got my Private done...pretty cool to fly over in a B-24!

BTW...the spars have been sawn through on the Corsair...including all the associated hydraulic lines and wiring harneses.

I'm sure they don't want people in fast movers zipping down the corridor. The transition zone is between 1,000 and 1,300ft MSL at or below 140kts with manditory reporting points. Alpine Tower, George Washington Bridge (GWB), Intrepid, ...yada yada. Its still fun to do and still fairly easy. The only concern is the pop up TFRs around the baseball stadiums...gotta read the sports page to see if they are playing that day.

No problem Pogo...normally we use 30" and 2000rpm for cruise, this gives us and indicated airspeed of around 160mph. The GPS reads in kts. so I used 28" and 1800rpm to run down the corridor, which worked out to be around 125-135kts. The B-24 does not like to fly slow and wallows alittle more than normal but it is not bad. The new rules for the Hudson corridor dictate that we stay between 1,000 and 1,300' msl. Once out of the corridor we pushed it back up to normal cruise. We had some pretty heavy hitters onboard for the media flight. I haven't seen any newspapers today but all the big ones were with us...New York Times, Wall Street Journal...etc.. They really enjoyed it and promised us good New York coverage.

Last time I saw that many B-17's together was back in the 70's at Hemet, CA when they were fighting a big fire up at Big Bear. Keep those pictures coming please!

More from the Collings tour. We were stuck in Hyannis yesterday with low ceilings, left O dark early this morning for Beverly. Flew the Foundations T-6 today...what a nice machine! more photos to come...
