This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

SU-27?????

Rockford isn't that far from OSH.

Not much luck with that. Heard wings are off, being crated up and shipped to Ohio courtesy of the US govt probably never to fly again.

Nice! Last I heard this aircraft was for sale. Has that changed?
Also didnt Gerry Beck create all new jigs and pieces for this aircraft, essentially being a data plate restoration? If so does this mean that if someone wanted to, they could create more Zeros with the tooling that Beck had created?

Pony for you. Did I tell you it bites and kicks people? Second prize is the good feeling you get from being right. Your choice of prizes of course!

From what I gather, yes thats the one. GOD I wish I could buy one of those! Even though American types are far more plentiful/desired I would kill for a ride in an Axis aircraft let alone fly a Zero.
Would be nice to see a real Zero based more closely. Either at Fighter Factory or the Russel Group. Awww that would be so cool!

Blayd created the jigs, made the parts and assembled the major airframe components. Gerry, Warren and Toby bought into the project and supplied the money and facilities to turn it into a flying airplane. The airframe is based off of one of three or four that were salvaged from and island in the pacific. Bits, pieces, some major castings and landing gear were salvaged from those wrecks to form the basis of the restoration. There are enough parts to build at least two more but I believe they are tied up in a law suit between Blayd and another person (Not any of the three listed above).
Yes it is for sale.
Airknocker...yes, that zero.

I was hoping it was going to be the B-17F Boeing Bee.

Before I got through the entire thread just now, I thought maybe you were referring to a big red airplane. Guess I'll just keep that one to meself...

Huh. Well, nice plane, but several of the wrong answers were more interesting than the right one.

Wait a minute.....what....nobody has anything to say about this statement? Please clarify. Are you saying that the Air Force "repossessed" the 2 Flankers at Pride? What do you know and why hasn't this been made public here on this forum?

I am waiting to hear something official but haven't yet. Last year at EAA, I spoke for quite awhile with Wolf Czaia while he was there with General Rall. I asked him then about brining the 262 to EAA, and Czaia told me that he hoped to bring the ME-262 to Oshkosh in 2010. I am sincerely hoping that he will be able to do that. I really want to see that airplane and watch it fly!
