My father, Lt. Col. Robert E. Proctor is the pilot shown in the next-to-last photograph that you posted some time ago [bandaged finger]. He turned 90 this past July and just passed away this week. He was a proud P51 pilot and will be buried next month at Arlington. I will look through some photos that we found of the FG in Europe and if I find any of your father, I will try to scan them and send them to you. Elizabeth Proctor

Elizabeth, sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. These men, like your father, & mine, these fighter pilots of World War Two, are of a type that the World will never know the like's of again. That whole generation will never again be duplicated. We are to be proud, that we are their children. Godspeed to your Father.

Hi Elizabeth,
Sorry to hear that your father has past away. The ranks of 9th along with all the others are getting thinner every year and it seems that almost every day I check the boards another one has gone west, it's hard to see them all leaving us.
If you can find any photos with my grandfather that would be great and very much appreciated.

I recently came across these pictures and found my grandad, Robert C. McWherter. He passed away a few years ago at 88 and he died a fighter. He is and always will be my hero. I just wanted to say thank you for these photos and please let me know where I might be able to find more about this fighter squadron and the men in it.

My dad passed away a couple years ago at 86. he was a very proud fighter pilot as well. I miss him.

Great Photos Jason! My uncle was Lt. Davis Ritchie Tucker of the 363rd Group 381st Squadron. His 1st (p51 B) was "Tarheel Special" and His second (p51 D) was "Butch". I would love to hear from any one that has any photos of him or his plane.

Bill welcome to WIX. My dad, then LT Charles Stuart was good friends with your uncle. Good luck with finding any photos of, as dad called him "Tucker". I will look but I don't think I have any.

I just found this thread. Outstanding photos everyone. I like the number of razorback P-51s in Jason's photo, I've always been partial to the look of the razorbacks over the bubble tops. I love to look at the details of these kinds of photos, especially the flight gear. I found it interesting that most of the photos from Europe show the pilots wearing B-10 jackets rather the classic A-2 and a couple of them are wearing RAF type goggles instead of the GI issue.

HI folks;

My Uncle was Carleton Evald Palmer. He was a P-51 Mustang Pilot in the 9th AAF, 382 Fighter Squadron. He was killed 3 days before the war ended in Europe. I recently aquired all his memorbilia which includes most of the pictures that Jason S. just posted. (They must have been standard pictures everyone gave each other.) I have the names and home addresses of where the pilots lived (at the time of WWII) on the back of most of the pictures. Do you think people would want to know these addresses? I am in the middle of trying to locate these plots family members so they can get copies of the pictures I have.

My father was in the Battle of the Bulge. Another interesting part of the war.
