Is this the one they've always had, or is this a 2nd Privateer?

This is the only one I remember the Museum having. This will be its fourth paint job/make over since the museum has had the aircraft I believe.

Great idea Django:
It would have to be politically correct, but I think I could come up with a couple of authentic pieces of nose art. Hal Olsen (from Tinian) is still with us and I bet he would love to do it.

Wow, that would be AMAZING to have Hal Olsen repaint one of his designs. I would do just about anything to get to meet and spend 30 minutes with him to discuss his body of work. Have they picked out markings beyond the tri-color yet? Is there still hope that this could even be a possibility?

I heard that it was tri color but that was it. I think it wouold be a great way to display the PB4Y by adding nose art. I can't think of much nose art in the museum there as alot of Navy aircraft didn't carry nose art. I am glad that the Privateer is coming inside.

Bill, any chance of posting up some possible contenders? Most of the ones that I can think of that he did off the top of my head, all are bare-breasted. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Any suggestions for a book that would have alot of the nose art on the Privateers? (particularly the Hal Olsen stuff) Alan Carey's Above An Angry Sea perhaps?

Django, I will check my own book, Paint Locker Magic, and see if I can post a few pics. It will take a few days. Mr. Carey's book is also a great source for nose art, however, the books deals mostly with operational details. But, it is a good start, I will check it as well.
