This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Jack, I far as I can tell by what he left me and and his service records I sent off for(all the exact dates are at home) he was on the USS Enterprise early in 1944 VF10 and the next tour was on the USS San Jacento VF51 the same time as Bush (I have squadron phots with both of them).
The Hellcat photo I posted was the only one showing the full plane and when I zoom in I can tell it's him. I found that same tail on a TBM that was on static display and it mentioned the USS Langley but that was as much as I could find out.
Thanks for your help!

great shots!
Cool to think that Panther 123072 "206" of VF112 might have been below decks when these shots were taken; too bad it is no longer airworthy.
thanks for posting!

I might have some more VF-23 shots but I know I have some VF-51s shots off the San Jacento. I can post some if you'd like.

That would be great-it may fill in some voids.

Another example of how WIX is the best resource for warbirds ever invented!
Thank you so much for posting these, and thank you to your dad for having the forethought to take them.

I'm sure there's more than one NAVAIR fan on this board who sees this...
and thinks this...
Absolutely jaw-droppingly awesome photos... not sure how you manage it, but each batch gets better and better. I'm almost afraid of what comes next!

Don't know where it is, but I am curious about the polished area on the tank tip; is this for the same purpose as the polished oval area on P-38 inner engine cowlings?
Again, great shots!
