This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

The poor dude that originally posted this question has been completely ignored while everyone stands around and compares who has the most most ships and carrier traps or how many Helo rides they've had.
Now that the Lexington has been retired what carrier are they currently using for carrier training???

Somewhere I have a photo of it after they painted the Fighting Cock with boxing gloves and tailhook on the engine naceles.

If T-45 is what they are using now.. then what is it or what did it used to be and where is it stationed? Stick to the subject.. this is a perfect example of why pepole don't post much here anymore because of all the know-it-alls..

You mean, these three posts on the very first page of this very thread didn't answer the question completely enough?

planenutti wrote:Eric is right, whatever carrier is out exercising their flightdeck and flightdeck crew gets the tasking. A week after the Bush got her deck certified for the first time, they had their Air Wing, several of the RAG's and Air Training Command coming over the ramp.

Tom,
If you are asking what type was used before the T-45 that would have been, for 50 years the North American T-2 BUCKEYE and/or (time frame dependant) the T-28.
About 22 years ago, two T-2's came to KBFI and participated in the Flight Fest Air Show static display area. I asked one of the pilots how long it took them to get to Seattle from Beeville TX. and his reply was 'about 278 fuel stops'

Don't encourage him....he's gonna have a hard enough time getting the hatch on the Mosquito to close on his big head as it is.....
