Just love those "30's" schemes of silver with the red white and blue tails! Must have been quite impressive with their South American tour. Show the flag and train crews at the same time.

Speaking of the South American tour stuff, I found this certificate in the 2nd Bombardment Group file and shot a poor photo of it. I didn't want to handle it too much and it is too large to fit my scanner. Sorry about the quality.

That certificate is a very cool bit of history.
The flat waist position was the upgrade to the blister waist positions. Much easier to build, less weight and more streamlined, but less visibility.

Academy did a box top art for a B-17 that showed a formation shot (artist rendering) over Buenos Aires. A nice rendering none the less. B-17C/D kit I believe. 1:72 scale. Nice build overall.
