fleet16b,
That sounds like a fun event!
How was the turnout at the Friendly Foes Over the Falls Airshow?
Best Regards,

Aside from the ME109 issue, the show went very smoothly as usual.
Mr Russell sated to me that he thinks this year was the best turnout yet
The weather held and lots of flying before during and after each days show was done.
It is one of the best shows we do. Mr and Mrs Russell always take care of the pilots volunteers etc. They are fantastic hosts and very down to earth people.

Fleet16B, which Finch at the show was yours? Was it the one that was used at Windsor Mills EFTS?

My Finch is actually a 16R ( 160 hp R55 Kinner)
It is # 4494 as painted on the aircraft
Yes it was at #4 EFTS Windsor Mills.

The other Finch is a 16B ( 125 hp B5 Kinner) and is # 4488 as painted.

Was there some report on this that you have secret access to or are you smearing monkey poo because you can and he can't defend himself? Hardly decent behavior on you part, either way.

Well put Muddy :drink3:

I think the reason nobody brings up much about the Hurricane is that the owner of the Hurricane was not here with us letting us live vicariously through him  I met Bill twice and have the same lasting impression that so many here have expressed...one heckuva nice guy. He also happens to own/fly my favorite WWII fighter :P So he has an abrasive streak that runs through him from time-to-time. Big deal...let he without sin cast the first stone!

Bill...iffin ya are readin this..."Keep On Rockin In The Free World" :spit2

To the haters... :finga: :butthead:

Whatever Bill said to annoy some people,he across to me when i flew in his spit a decent bloke, also a very good pilot,as i was putting my life in his hands, which i didnt think of at the time, and should have done.
We all annoy people at times, but sometimes we have to look for the best in people, and just ignore the worst bits in them.
If people dont like what he says, then just ignore it,and dont carry on the argument,as long as it isnt personal.
I think he knows a lot of knowledge that all warbird people are interest in and that it is a pity he cant express it,plus the fact that we wont be able to see how the Spit is coming along, which im sure many people would like to see fly again.
Im sure if he was given a second chance he would curb his instints, but that isnt up to me,thats for the moderators.
imho, he was a big bonus for this website,as there isnt many people
who own a spit to give us the pleasure of his experience in one.
Thanks.

GREAT NEWS TODAY!

I was lucky enough to talk to Bill on the phone this afternoon.
Bill confirmed that they have started repairs on the Spitfire!!!
It is going to be long and expensive process, but he hopes to have the Spitfire in the air sometime in the future.
Bill also appreciates all the support that some of you have provided!

I really wish Bill was on WIX to provide more details. All I know is that the process has begun! Awesome News!!!!!
I would love to see it fly in the Colorado Skies again!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Bluedharma
That is Great News, absolutely brilliant,Thanks for the update.
I was going to phone him,but not much chance of catching him from the UK here.
As you say,its a pity he wasnt on here,as we could more likely see some photos of the repairs, such is life, darn shame really.
These chances dont come very often.
Perhaps ill ring him up for another ride in it,when its repaired,i wish :)
Good luck to him.

Although I'm generally considered to be Bill's political arch-nemesis, when it comes to Spitfires I'd be glad to post any photos if he e-mails them to me.

Don't disturb all the wannabees, they are enjoying their ideas of what it is really like own a Spitfire. Glad his airplane's getting worked on. Bill, you're still welcome to back seat with me in the L-5...

Same here. Also, I have a feeling that if a bunch of us met up at some event that we'd find it a little harder to be mean, and a little easier to be friendly even in disagreement. It's no longer just a screen name, but a person.

It's amazing what the warmth of a man's handshake will do to turn a bigmouth jackanape into a friend, eh Ryan?

I've had nothing but good experiences in this area so far with other WIXers. I know others have had otherwise, but not me.
