Just Julian, or can anybody let you know?

And how would you like to be let known? Will a request here be good enough, or does need to be something specific like oh, I dunno', smoke signals, telegram, begging on knees...

Always looking for older pictures of the local attractions. Especially those from Pate and Flying Tigers.

Nah, begging on your knee's is not necessary, funny, but not necessary. Just PM me with your contact info and I can get them to you. I'll have to scan them, since they're from the days before digital cameras were affordable.

It's not really about the loss of the whole aircraft; it's about the loss of the artwork and that's what Julian said. That artwork was done by the original painter who has now passed away and there is no way to protect it if it's out flying. I agree that when you have an aircraft with that much history, that much irreplaceable artwork on it, and so many alternatives out there, why put that plane out and risk having that artwork damaged or lost?

So if a tornado were to hit that hangar or it burned down, the artwork would live on? Thanks for completely ignoring my points in order to be argumentative. I can read, I understand the fact about the artwork being recreated, thank you.

I can't speak for the artist, and I say God Bless his soul and thanks for his service, but had I done that artwork, I'd want that plane flying with it, not sitting in a hangar until eventually the colors fade or the museum closes up, whatever. As I said, it is my hope that someday the Cavanaugh museum would change their policy and let millions see that artwork and that B-25 in the air, but I won't hold my breath.

Rich,

I will pass your your request onto the owner of the aircraft next time I see him....... :)

Julian

PS....Personally, I would love to see her fly again...but don't tell Doug I said that...I don't have enough time to work the projects I already have.

There's more to it than just the art work. but that is the main reason. The inside is as acurate as can be. The more you fly it, the more it gets scratched and worn. I agree that things can happen while it's in the hangar. I think the fact that we fly most of our aircraft, should allow us the priviledge of not flying a few. It all goes back to the old saying. You can get a B25 ( or any other aircraft) and do with it as you wish. We spend a lot of time and money taking our aircraft, about 5, to Oshkosh and Sun-n-fun at our expense, to show them. And by the way we also give rides to the warbird ramp folks as a little thanks).
Buy an airline ticket and come see it or just hold your breath.

Hey, I'm a huge fan of the Cavanaugh museum (and all the other great warbird museums), and I was lucky enough to see "How Boot That" fly at Oshkosh, as I've been there 31 straight years. I just see this amazing aircraft as a rare opportunity, not a rare static display.

Like I said, no Duck is living history like Chuck's (or has the impact when you see it on the ramp at a show), and I just think it's a shame that this B-25 isn't doing the same for millions of people that will never make it to the Cavanaugh museum.

No disrespect to any of the people of Cavanaugh intended.

I expect that by the time "FiFi" (B-29) arrives at Addison, the current "layout" will probably have changed.

That wouldn't have anything to do with the big erector set scattered around would it?

Have any idea on the time frame?
