A Brit who gave me a .50cal projectile at Hawkinge (sp?), on the Channel coast said that he got it from one of the soldiers manning an anti aircraft gun defending the base during the war. The deal is that if you open enough boxes of ammo, you'll see separated rounds. So, maybe the -47 hauled ammo at some point.
