I’d lay bet that the Red Bull P-38 is probably the safest P-38 flying because of the engineer’s freedom to cut corners on authenticity for the sake of modern convenience and technology - almost to a fault, but maybe not quite. 8)

Rob, the high quality of resto-mod on her is seen in some of the pics from Nelsons site and comments by others, but I was wondering what has been put in her to make her what she is today as far as hi-tech? Avionics and the panel is one place, but does anyone know of other areas where they built in more reliability and safety? Lack of turbos has to be one plus, but did they do more to the airframe and engines to enhance a long life of safe flight for Red Bull? Sorry for all the questions, but the mechanic/tech side of me is curious. Tailwinds to all....
Good to have you back Hellcat.

BTW ... any reason for the "white" instrument panel in the RB cockpit? Is it just an owner thing or a real reason for it to be white?

Supposedly the "light gray" interior is more ergonomic. Personally, I've seen WAY too many warbirds done up like this and I think it detracts from the over all effect. However, as I'm neither a pilot or owner my opinion is worth maybe two cents...

From your "avatar" you seem to have more than just two cents ...

I love the look of the panel, but it does look "very new" to me, but very impressive ... indeed
