Fantastic material. They give a totally truthful perspective of how the NAS appeared with many different types of aircraft from that time period. Again, thank you for sharing this wonderful material with us.

Great stuff!

Look at the clock on the control tower in that last shot!

So what scanner and editing program are you using? How are you cleaning the dust off of your slides?

Thanks

I'm using the Nikon Coolscan V that I'm only really comfortable using for about 6 months now. I save high quality JPEGs, run them through "Noiseware" to get rid of the noise, then resize and do a little clean-up in Photoshop.

As the one F9F shot shows, I really didn't do any cleaning of the slides. My uncle brought me some boxes of his better shots, and I ran them. There's some that I will clean and re-do, like that F9F shot on the previous page. I have some film cleaning solution (Kodak), that's all I've ever used.

Thanks for the kind words, my uncle appreciates it.

Rich

Here's three more. I'll probably come up with another 25 or 30 in the future, of what I've already scanned. I'll ask the Uncle if he's got more shots, I'm sure he does.

Rich,

From the other side of the Pond, my sincere thanks to you and your uncle for some great images.

Looking at those Navy paint jobs, they bring back a far more colourful era than today's.

Where was that beautiful air to air of the yellow SNJ taken? Was it out of Jacksonville?

Wow, these slides from the early/mid 50s time frame are TERRIFIC. Really appreciate you sharing from your Uncle's collection.

Keep them coming if you can.

No, he was stationed at NAS Pensacola, where I think all the air-to-air shots were taken.

Here's a couple of more. The first is another of my favorites, showing F9Fs, T-28s, SNBs, Navy Shooting Stars and an Air Force one taxiing. The second shot shows an RCN Avenger along with the blimp line.
