This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

At this point in time, it will probably be re-painted as "Lucybelle", which, as we all know, is not really Pappy's ship, just a publicity paint job. But it is well known and honors a famous Marine Corps pilot.
Am I allowed to comment here
It might change but that's a little further down the road.
How about a ace from VMF-112 KIA over Japan in 1945

Get me the info!
The more "ammo" and "Good Reasons" I have to pitch for for a change of markings, the better off I'll be!
It's got to be a Marine paint job.
Thanks Jack!

Is that real, or one of DT fiberglass builds?

looks fiberglass to me. Shame they are gonna put that real one back on its pedestal. They should put it under cover and put a fiberglass one up the pole.

My sentiments exactly. Alot of hard work will go into restoring that old bird, that will inevitably be undone in a short few years time.
NOW seems like a perfect opportunity to restore this Corsair for display inside and used it to make a fiberglass replica of it for mounting on the pole.
Either way I hope someone here will cover the restoration with regular reports.
