I want to add one more thing. I think people can talk about anything if they do it in a civilized manner. I am so sick of “ATTITUDE”. Be civil. Be nice. That doesn’t make you any less of a “real man” or “real woman”.

Is it politics or Bill's attitude?

I think a few WIXERS spend WAY TOO much time on their little computers and should get lives. A few others need to sober up. Several need to grow up.

This is the post that caused the suspension in the first place.
Randy, last week there was a TV news report on civilain deaths from US bombing in Afganistan. Don't worry, your name was not mentioned. It did give a death toll, seems like 54? for a number of incidents. The last one which was detailed was of an incident where 9 civilains were killed when an F-15 or two dropped 2 1000 lb bombs on a village, (can't recall the name). The eye catching part was an interview with the Afgan president Karhzai ? in which he directly called for a cessation of U S airpower there because of the civilian deaths. My question is has the U S honored his request as far as bombing attacks on civilan targets? And cheerup, if they ground the 15s, I'm sure they'll provide you a replacement like an Osprey.

I don't understand why the ban, yes it should be lifted.

They don't make F-15s or F-15 pilots out of tin foil and I'll bet Randy has faced off against tougher opponents. Randy's a big boy, maybe a bit bigger than Bill this week for moving beyond this little slip. I did not get suspended for posting a ball turret crotch shot movie of amother WIXer's daughter so seven days seems a bit harsh. Can't we all just get along?

Still, if I were Bill I would consider installing chaff and flare dispensers on the Spitfire and maybe he should make a few "Crazy Ivans" on those long cross country flights from now on. At least he should stay out of MOAs. I might also suggest a new paint scheme for the Spitfire. :D

*check it out, it's even a two seater. I'm waiting for Eric to jump in here, I can't believe he's missing out on a "pile on Bill" thread.

The more I study this, the more it brings me to one conclusion.

With Bill's hope of ever lasting peace and with Randy and the USAF dropping bombs on babies it seems that the WIX Forum and dare I say the Universe have achieved a perfect balance. A Ying for every Yang!

New to this discussion - how many days are left out of the seven to enter the poll? What happens if it's a fifty/fifty split ?

Looking at the initial post - maybe it's a little harsh but putting the 'political' elements aside - are bombs not dropping on civilians?
If they are not I would be amazed . In a forum which discusses primarily the weapons which are / where used mostly to carry out a political will - is there any way in which you can keep the two subjects entirely separate?

All those who haven't pi$$ed someone off on the Internet, please raise your right hand. Right, that's what I thought. All of you either raised your hand, or you're lying.

Lift the ban. I may not agree with all of his politics, but he is an experienced warbird pilot with valuable insight into the operation of the Spitfire- a type which many of us here happen to hold most dear. And those who've met in in "real time" say he's a good guy, so that's good enough for me.

CIVILIAN NON-COMBATANTS ARE NOT TARGETED. PERIOD. NO GRAY AREA.

Coalition bomb-droppers go to extensive lengths to ensure that we do not cause collateral damage. The actual rules of engagement are classified, but I think you would be astonished at what is required to allow a bomb to fall off the airplane. We're only a half-step away from actually having a lawyer in the cockpit checking our targets over our shoulder (as is, all of our videotapes are scrutinized after the fact by the leadership).

I don't guarantee that weapon effects aren't felt by non-combatants, especially since in both Iraq and Afghanistan the insurgent forces intentionally operate among the local populus to exploit the fact that we care about NOT killing or injuring non-combatants. I DO guarantee that a HUGE amount of effort is made to prevent that from happening to the maximum extent possible.

BTW, I stand by my original request that Bill not be banned for reasons all ready discussed.

I'm sure that whatever rudder correction Bill needed to play nice here in the WIX sandbox has all ready been given.

1.) What was political about the statement?
2.) What was the personal attack? (I don't think Bill was trying to attack Randy, but just curious as to what it was).
3.) Given the other comments posted on here in heated discussions, this was a very mild thing to get in trouble for. What has made this more "worse" than other things. :?

(Regardless, I'd be more careful to what I said to the F-15E pilot! :D )

On a side note, I'm kind of dissapointed that the political talk was banned. I always found them quite entertaining to read. I love discussing things, especially politics. I do it all the time with my friends, but we never get mad, or the catch-all phrase for people without a backbone: "offended." If you feel offended while in a discussion, it really is simple--don't participate. This is an optional activity. No one is forcing us to be here, or post here. Seriously.

I am by far more conservative, but I really enjoyed reading everyone's comments and opinions, and the "creative" ways they were expressed.

I did not bother to vote in the poll.

While I don't think a seven day vacation would hurt Mr. Greenwood and would in all likelyhood help him with how he words his posts in future to avoid such misunderstandings, the only opinion that matters is Randy's as he is the aggrieved party. He has made his view very clear in the above post.

Lift the ban. End of discussion

Wed Nov 07, 2007 4:47 pm

ok, so I've been away, and missed the "big show" that occured between Randy and Bill.

I really hate to add to the "Non-aviation related topics" but I think it's worth me putting my two cents in.

Like mentioned before, there are rules to the board and when they are broken, regardless of intent, they need to be dealt with. One week is a decent decision.

From what I understand of the sitaution I would say the following:

Randy, we have punished Bill with a one week suspension for his comments.

Bill, you broke a rule, as much as you may not have intended to, but a rules a rule.

Now everyone, let's MOVE ON!
