I remember when I was younger and was at an airshow were someone had a full nude nose art on one plane. Being young I felt pretty embarressed!

Wasn't there a B-29 group that had to cover up the naked girls for some General, but they used water based paint? Next mission they flew into some rain and all of the bathing suits that had been painted on where washed away.

Hey, what a great idea for a new product! Y'know, like those glasses you fill up with water and the bathing suit disappears? I wonder if you could make vinyl decals that do that? Fun with nose art, the modern way!

Isn't that what happened to Charles Osborne's P-47 also? "Big Ass Bird" wasn't appropriate, so it became "Tarheel Hal".

Years ago Tired Iron Racing Team flew an A-26 with the nose art entitled "Puss & Boots". When someone disapproved at the Breckenridge show, Dick Wright flatly said, "DON'T LOOK AT IT THEN".

Nuff said.

I was at a stop of the B-24 when it was paint as The Dragon. I was standing next to a local weatherman who commented that they should not have painted it that way, I asked him what way, he said they should have painted clothes on the girl. I told him it is paint as it was, it is correct and represents a time of history and if he did not like it, not to look at it. He said it did not offend him, but he was thinking about the kids that would see it. I told him that they need to learn what it was like then and why the planes were painted the way they were, it is history and should not be changed for any reason.

If you think the nude female figure is immoral, you have a real problem. :D

I think the three or four noseart girls you see at the airshow are no more than the kids would see when they go to the local art museum.

Just think about what will happen when they get a girlfriend/wife, they'll see a naked one, and alive to boot! They'll be traumatised for sure.

Well, the only thing I know for sure is that "political" and "correctness" do not belong ANYWHERE near each other in the same sentence. There isn't anything about politic's that's correct. I think history needs to be represented as it was. There are way to many examples of history being re-written for the sake of convenience or so as not to offend anyone. The world was not then, nor is it now in many ways a very pretty place. The realities of all of the cruelties over the centuries is not something mankind can be really proud of, but none the less it exists. It seems to me that just about no matter what one person does, some else will be offended by it. For something to be represented as it was during it's time in history shouldn't necessarily be found offensive in nature, but found more in light as a fact from that time period. One symbol or artform can have many meanings to differant individuals. Trying to walk the line between whats fact and what is accpetable is at best very difficult.

If you look at the CAF's "Yellow Rose" back in the day and now, you will notice that she has a lot more coverage now a days then when she ran around bare chested. We don't have that issue with "Lady Lodestar" for some reason, guess it is those carefully located stars.

People need to stop trying to hide history. Plain and simple.

It is not like the aircraft have a sexual explicit act painted on the side of the plane. Besides, the crap they see on T.V. is much worse then any noseart that I have ever seen in my life.

When I was growing up in the 70-80's I never sat and pointed out to my folks about a noseart painted on the airplane, I was more interested in the entire plane and the crew's then going. Oh my gosh, a tittie! I am ruined for sure!

I have 5 children, 15-2 years old, and I would rather then see a naked woman on an airplane, then to see gun shots and drugs in movies or T.V.

People need to put the bible down, and stop preaching to others about morals. 1% of the offended should not cause 99% change in our way of life.

Mustangdriver.....I hadn't heard that there were folks complaining about Strawberry Bitch again. I find it hard to believe that they would even bother. If you remember (or maybe you weren't there, yet  ) they painted over her many years ago, only to have her returned to "normal" after a period of time.

Yeah, I saw one of the events first hand, but it was about a year or so ago. Ask Reilly about it. He was with me. S.B. may have been originally nude (although I have never seen a pic to prove that), but the nose art did fly in the war with the bathing suit on as well. There are photos out there to back that up. So in my book that is not changing it. I have no problem with nose art.
