Saw a C-17, perhaps two (same one?) orbiting Watertown, NY.... home of 10th Mtn.Div. at Fort Drum... anyone know why they were there?

Richard

Ol' 927! I was westbound on the President Bush Turnpike, and she passed right over my truck on final to Addison. Sweet! It sure makes the commute more bearable when you get to see warbirds in flight! :D

Cheers,

Four Royal Navy Jetstream trainers in an unusually tight diamond 4 formation, probably rehearsing for the forthcoming RNAS Culdrose air display.

It's like I live in the friggin' woods. Looking out my window and all I see is
Beavers and Otters with the occasional Buffalo passing by. Last week I had to stop the car to let a Goose cross the road!

The C-17s are a pretty common sight here in Charleston, SC. There were a couple shuttling back and forth to North Field this morning, and when the noise died down, I could hear a single radial engine off in the distance. Never did see it because of the trees. May have been the N3N from Charleston Executive.

Also saw (and heard) a couple of Harriers from Cherry Point. The Harrier is the most efficient way man has ever concocted to convert jet fuel into noise.

Sorry about my bad timing, but it was not a place I expected to see that.
There was R-44 traffic following that same route all afternoon. Tours up I-Drive I guess.
Then I heard a completely different sound and saw that heading away from us.

Didn't actually see it flying, but when I stuck my head out of the hanger late this afternoon there was a R4D-8 sitting on the ramp getting fuel and oil. In transit from Florida to its new home in Anchorage and the crew was hoping to make it home late tonight or early tomorrow :o

Sunday afternoon was gorgeous. Working in the yeard we heard the usual buzzing of the local training traffic - a couple of Cessnas, a Piper, a DA-20, then I heard a distinctive grumble. I looked up and saw a brief flash of a T-6 planform.

Yer takes what yer can gets, eh?

The Aerostars were having a work out at North Weald in their Yak 50s on Friday. A couple of Gnats were out as well...
