I've been away traveling for work and just started catching up on all the posts. Do you have anymore of the F-14 prototype shots? One of our original museum members helped to build it -- it's almost all wood! (Rich Schlegelmilch was a terrific guy but passed away several years ago unfortunately.)

Have you or your friend given any though to making the entire collection availible for sale on DVDs (as full size tiffs)? If commercial use is still owned by a museum, they could use it as a fund raiser.

I showed this post to a co-worker last night, and he picked his mother (now 94 years old) out of the group photo with the last set of wings out of the Port Washington facility. Very cool.

I can't wait to see the Republic thread. Many thanks for the great Long Island history.

My friend died after scanning all these photographs, I inherited them and decided to post them on here, he would like everyone enjoying them. Maybe I will go though and pick out some more employee photographs. The problem with the DVD idea is I have 105 CDs' with approximately 100 photographs on each CD, a lot of photographs. Its better just to give them away, I think.

Leo Polaski was from Northport, Long Island, he taught High School English. Leo died a year ago February. I ended up with his collection of photographs (scans) Leo was one of those people that was always doing things for other people. The response from you all has been great, I'm sure he is happy knowing everyone likes these....
My knowledge of airplanes pretty much ends with Century Series of Fighters, I can't tell a F-101A from a F101B but I do know great photos, and we have plenty more

I think pretty much everyone has enjoyed your posts. I know I have, and I thank you for kindly sharing this stuff.

And I know firsthand what it's like to prepare and post images en masse, and so fully appreciate that angle of your efforts as well.

As to more employee photos... I vote yes!


Now, that shot of the OY-1 on the carrier... (fourth photo, last post) have you any additional info? The filename
was cut off after the second letter of the Carrier's name...

Also, any idea what the name on the nose of the OY-1 is?


I'm looking forward to the Republic stuff...

I truly appreciate all your hard work (I barely have the patience to post two or three photos at a time!) and your remarkably unselfish postings. I am an active historian and with the exception of two old friends, one in Holland and a second in California (both well known historians), I have not ever seen anyone go to this much trouble, just for the sake of making total strangers feel good. Please don't stop.
