Another shot of the doghouse canopy in place. The escape hatch door glass and the forward glass still have protective coatings on them which will come off later. The long side glass on each side will be installed later. From the looks of the weather here in Ft Worth, all activities include the 5K Celeb charity run for helping WWII vets, at Meacham have been canceled or postponed. Can barely get out of the drive way due to the ice with snow on top of it. What might melt today will refreeze tonight with temps as low as 15 degs forecast. So for the first time since we started this project, it is doubtful we will work at all tomorrow. Just hope for better next weekend so we can make up for lost time. And things were going so well...... :-) JR

Uh-Oh, Jim, looks like someone has stolen your "pig hunting" idea. They must have some relation to Nimrods, they're doing it at night too. (might want to start lookin' for some flare racks for "K"!)

Hey Randy, no worries, there are more than enough wild pigs to go around. Not sure where we would get flare racks for K, but maybe night vision goggles would work better now. Even the pigs were taking cover today though. Not from the drones but from the cold. The ice is way too thick to melt any time soon so we may be inside for quite awhile. The team couldn't get to the airport to work this morning. All events in the hangar were called off. First time we have been skunked by the weather. Lots of people who tried to get out got stuck. If you went down a hill and had to go back up, it didn't happen. One of our guys is stuck at the Eagle Mtn Lake marina like that. He went to check on his boat since so many of the marina's around here have roofs that collapsed or the docks sank from the weight of the ice. His truck can't make it up the hill so he will get to spend the evening on the boat watching Ohio State vrs Michigan State game. He is an OSU fan so good for him...if the power stays on. I was just happy to see Baylor whip TU.. that's Uni of Texas to those who aren't Aggies. The Auburn/Missouri game was close up until the last. Good one. OU and OK State could have gone better. As you can tell, we are rather limited on entertainment. It's been reported that some of the guys have even resorted to talking to their wives or GF's about the A-26. Yeah, the ice is that bad! :-) JR

Wow, hard to imagine that stuff down there, as nice as it was the times we were down there. But, they say it's going to be our turn tomorrow and Monday. Supposed to get snow, then ice, then some freezing rain to top it off. Going to be interesting if all that happens. Hang in there.

Randy, looking at your forecasts, you may see some of this. This tree came down due to the ice load. Roads are still bad. Lots of flights canceled or delayed. I am supposed to fly up to Newark on Tuesday. Doesn't look good for that to happen. They may have some of the same mess then as we do now. Who ordered this weather anyway? Must be somebody's fault? :-) Can only hope we can get back to work on the A-26 next weekend. Take care, stay warm and stay off the roads, my friend. JR

Aw shucks, that's an easy answer. Don't you recall when the guvmint shut down a few months ago? That shut off all the hot air coming out of Washington, hence, since Ma Nature normally has winter this time of year, the cold air snapped back from the Arctic with nothing to hold it back or modify the temps. Who knew? :-) JR

=========Got to admit, that's at least as logical an answer as we would have gotten from Washington!!! Actually, probably more so. :drink3:

What's a feller to do when it is too danged cold and slippery to work on airplanes or fly em? It's too cold for man or beast. Stevo found that holding down the couch with the GF's pup was a good way to spend the evening in the front of the fireplace. I think I would have preferred the GF than the dog, but hey, I spent enough time frozen in Montana and S. Dakota that I can understand his thinking sorta. We are hoping that the snow and ice are melted enough to get back to work on Saturday. Did find a stash of O rings for the main gear actuator at Jay-Tex today so we will have plenty to do. We also got a bunch of wire for our avionics guys to get back on the path to righteousness. Randy, better come see us next summer after the ice is gone!! Did yall end up with any of this stuff in Va? :-) JR

===Got about an inch of ice last night, but was gone by noon today. Tonight we're supposed to get some snow, but they're not sure how much-maybe 1-3in. This one is coming out of W. Va., and the mountains usually kill anything coming from that direction before it gets to us.
We're laying plans for another trip out West, and looks like we'll be taking the Southern route (via Ft. Worth) to avoid any left over winter weather in the North. Probably be departing here about the middle of May again.

You have to go to Glacier National Park, the Poles, etc. to see that.

The days of flying to the $100 burger are pretty much gone, but if Special K ever goes hunting we'd be talking about a $1000+ pork sammich. The G.I.'s back in the day could never have imagined a K-Ration as rich folk food!

Just a reminder here, Jim...

Cold beer goes really well with barbecued spare ribs. The deal was, and still is, that if you guys shoot a wild hog from the air using K's nose-mounted .50s then I'll supply a keg o' beer for the subsequent party.

That offer assumes that I find a job between now and then. :(

Hey Dean, sorry to hear your job news. Understand about the keg offer. Ya know, if Taigh R can arrange for live firing at Bomber Camp, I don't see why we can't make some noise with the .50's on K..... other than money. :-) The Duck Drivin Lady sent this teaser of a video over though of some wild pigs getting the treatment. Nearly as good as Randy's vid. Check this out.
