There has been NO announcement of a TA-4 Skyhawk and it is not on the Performers List OR the Aircraft List. While it would be a welcome addition it does not seem likely.

First time I have heard of anything. There is an A-4 performing in Chicago this weekend, but it is the WHF A-4B...maybe its a typo and that one will be popping over for the flyby... who knows.

The flying also seems a little light, the only WWII aircraft that are flying is the morning battle...but there are some cool aircraft flying in this show. I hope the weather holds out!

It will be interesting to see if this pans out. The WHF A-4B is the only Skyhawk anywhere near Michigan as far as I know so IF this is not a mistake, it would seem more likely than a TA-4. I guess we shall see.

I checked the site this morning and the generic schedule was still on there so I'm guessing this late in the game that is the official schedule. Looks like a great lineup. Warbird light, but I'll take it.

Collings Foundation flies a TA-4J. I think its stationed in TX. We've had other planes from TX area fly up for the show in the past I believe.

From my experience, practices tend to approximate show times, arrivals flutter in all day from morning until evening.

I know the field, I was there THUR & FRI, went in the show SAT went back to the field SUN and they wanted $20, I offered $10 and they accepted.

I posted the Angels 7 ship departure that day in the 2015 thread, not bad for a cell phone vid.

Will likely be there FRI at least if Ecorse turns into a cluster.

Could you share where this "field" is? We usually sit on Ecorse on Friday but maybe looking for somewhere new.

Where Tyler Road comes in west of the airport. When you get up to the side of the airport it will curve to the right and will take you by the approaches to Runway 5L and 5R. The field is right across the street from the runway and t approach and the old Zantop and cargo plane hangars/ramp. Really only good when there is a north wind and 5R is in use. As of now, they are forecasting south winds for Friday. so Ecorse will be the spot. Aircraft practices and fly arounds are kind of far.

Who all owns A-4s now in the US?

There is N49WH that has come here in the past
N2262Z A-4 owned by Valiant Air Command Titusville FL
Collings A-4, which I haven't seen in ages (Thunder Over Michigan 2006)
Draken Intl have several at Lakeland FL Airport

Some arrivals like the show performers will get there Wed or Thur - F-18, F-22, Brietling and a few early warbird arrivals, some of the helos maybe.

The arrivals are weird and sporatic usually starting around 10am. You can get a bunch of arrivals all within 10 min of each other then go for an hour or two and not get anything where you are happy just to see one of the spam cans from the local flight school coming in.

They will probably close the airspace 1pm-4pm so that the Brietling Team, F-22 and F-18 can practice. They open the airspace back up at 4 and some will come in here and there until dark.

True I drove out to Marana when I was out in Tucson last summer and I saw a bunch on a ramp at the Marana Airport KAVQ, not sure how flyable they were but I think they restore them to flying condition and figured some might be Draken bound.

I saw parts for about 6 different A-4s when I was out at Yanks Museum Chino a couple weeks ago too that they are planning on restoring.

That answers that question!

Thanks Michael! Outstanding addition to the lineup! Great year for vintage jets with Dean Cutshall's F-100F, Randy Ball's MiG-17PF and the Collings Foundation TA-4F Skyhawk.

8)
