The big question is: How much Molson can one haul in the back seat of a Harvard?

Actually, this is a pretty cool development on the eve of Canada Day.

This yank says, "Thanks for having our back all these years, Johnny Canuck".

Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing the Prowler fly in and looking forward to seeing the USCG aircraft fly on Thursday. Hopefully the Connie Edwards HU-16 Albatross will fly that day too.

If you get any tentative arrival schedules for the military birds let us know...

Right now, the plan is for the Mars to depart B.C. the morning of the 23rd. It is 9 hours direct to Oshkosh, so plan for an afternoon arrival on Saturday. The military equipment will mostly all be here all week. USCG assets are planning on Sunday/ Early Monday arrivals. U-2 is only a flyover, will not land and will have a T-38 or two in tow. As soon as I know for sure, I will do my best to relay the arrival times.

Viper Demo arrives Monday (Tentative 1ish PM), departing Wednesday after Convention. Snowbirds arrive Wednesday during the show, watch for a single ship to park over night in aircraft parking (Yes, they want to camp!).

And plan on at least a single QF-4 arriving Monday, departing Thursday.

THANK YOU very much for the aircraft arrival information! Looking forward to seeing the Mars during the week and will hopefully catch some of the arrivals, departures and flyovers of some of the others.

Keep us updated as you can.

A little more info on the USCG aircraft.

Coast Guard to celebrate centennial at EAA

Mark Barna
USA TODAY NETWORK

Be honest. When you think of the United States Coast Guard, you think watercraft.

But the Coast Guard also has plenty of aircraft to help people stricken on lakes and oceans.

The modern Coast Guard has been operating for some 100 years, having been established on Jan. 28, 1915, under the U.S. Department of the Treasury, according to the US Coast Guard website. But the Coast Guard was around way before that official designation. The guard has been involved in American wars since 1790, according to its website.

Several Coast Guard aircraft will be showcased at the 2016 AirVenture Oshkosh event July 25-31 to help commemorate the guard’s history.

Helicopters and planes round out the spectacle.

Scheduled to be at the show are:

* Eurocopter MH-65 Dolphin short-range recovery helicopter

* Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk medium-range helicopter

* Lockheed HC-130 Hercules long-range surveillance aircraft

* EADS HC-144 Ocean Sentry, medium-range surveillance aircraft

* Alenia C-27 Spartan, medium-range surveillance aircraft

While the aircraft and events honoring the Coast Guard aviation centennial will take place throughout AirVenture week, many of the activities will be focused on July 28.

That day’s events will include a large contingent of Coast Guard aircraft, both fixed-wing and rotorcraft, with plane-side interviews throughout the day from Coast Guard pilots and aircrews.

Some of those aircraft will fly in that day’s afternoon air show, and a special evening program at Theater in the Woods will highlight the Coast Guard’s aviation history.

Some of the Coast Guard’s top officers are also expected to participate in the activities.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is July 25-31.

Is there any interest in reviving the AirVenture WIX Gathering? Chris Henry (Mustangdriver) and I are kicking around the idea of having a WIX gathering in Camp Scholler at our campsites. If there's enough interest, we'll plan on doing it. We may even be able to convince our wives to cook up some good grub for it.
