Wow that's alot of airplanes suddenly coming up for sale. The shot of the FM-2 on the Platinum site is from my May 20, 2011 photo flight...ah..the fond memories.

That is a sweet SNJ. Where was the low approach to 22 at? It won't last long!

Will be passing through this Saturday on my way to the Banks and will be stopping at the MAM. Hoping to spend an hour or two there taking pictures.

A couple weeks ago they were all for sale. Including the airport.

Less than $600,000 for the Skyraider? Avenger going for $375,000? Typo perhaps?

The only thing I could see keeping the prices that low are the fact that the engines and props seem to have a lot of time on them since last "major overhaul?" Can anyone shed any light on how this might potentially affect the price of these warbirds?

SNJ-6 to list of for sale aircraft

I don't think that this aircraft is part of Yagen's collection. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

Those prices actually seem in line with what Skyraiders and Avengers have been listed for on Courtesy Aircraft the past couple years. I've seen Avengers between $225K-$375K and I seem to remember a Skyraider in the $425K-$475K range. I have no idea whether that's what they actually sell for, but that seems to be a typical asking price for the types.

MAM's TBM has been in their collection for a while. I recall seeing it in Frederick, MD in 2003 for the now-defunct CAF Stars & Stripes Wing's last hurrah: A TBM "Reunion" to commemorate their acquisition of Tanker 18, the same Avenger that was later restored by Jack Kosko's crew and is being finished up and readied for flight testing in Hagerstown.

The MAM Avenger had visited Culpeper (Tanker 18's evenutal home) before. It would have been nice to have seen this pair together again. Tanker 18 has come a long way since that show in 2003. Well, there's still hope that we'll see both of the Kosko TBMs together at a show.

Question regarding the pricing: Could part of the reason the TBM and Skyraider prices are lower because they are both over 12,000 pounds and classified as "large" airplanes, which apparently requires a whole different set of specifications, including an FAA-approved maintenance plan? Perhaps the lower prices compared to the FM-2, and especially Corsair and Spitfire are a concession to the additional red tape that has to be cut through to operate these planes? If I'm completely off base, please feel free to tell me so.

I can guess that some of the other factors for the price differential is a supply and demand factor.

Just a little FYI, the Skyraiders drive breaks all work and the photos don't do it justice. The Wildcat was based at Pungo Naval aux field during part of the war, and if it was explained to me the rite way. When she got her new paint, they copied what the found under the many layers of previous paint. I will miss watching Obie fly the Corsair ( he flew them during Koera, that is his baby). The Spit has combat history, she's painted in her war time colors. These aircraft are in impeccable condition. The Fighter Factory boys treat these birds great. ...

This thread really fell silent. Anyone heard if the aircraft on Platinum have attracted interested buyers?

Stopped by for 20 minutes on Saturday as that's all I had before they closed due to three hours worth of delays from traffic...

But I did take a few pictures and talked with a few people.

They confirmed that the mossy has not been sold. The asking price was believe to be above 7mil though.

So far, four planes have left the collection. The B-17, FW-190, Fi-156, and one of the two SNJ's.

The person I was talking to did say that when they first opened up, they were only covering about 30% of their expenses. But that has since increased to over 80%. Parking the fleet will help them get towards the goal of 100%. After that, he hopes they will begin to fly again.

I am planning on stopping by again this saturday on my way home, hopefully being able to stay longer.
