I was gonna make a smart remark about how maybe the big show wasn't "off" this year, but WIX photographers certainly were. Been waiting for Spooky and Garbs to weigh in.

:supz: There's Garbs, excellent! (Got any more???) Wonder where S the Cat is this year? Good to see Nathan Truninger join in. Love those OSH photos, guys!

Thanks, Pogo

Nicer shots from Nathan - looks like I should have lens envy. I have just a few more - will get to them soon. I did see Al once - I'm sure he's got some nice ones.

Never saw the Mach 1 cart - is it stealthy?

In case you couldn't find that certain warbird at OSH, it was probably off somewhere filming these.

(And my apologies if these have been linked at WIX already):

The woman not wearing a helmet or gloves. I thought that was a no-no in the high performance warbird flying world these days. To each his/her own, but for some reason I thought that was "unofficially" outlawed when flying the big, fast planes. Just an observation and in no way criticism of the lady or anyone else.

Mark, I think you should contact EAA and demand that they kick "The woman" out of the organization!

Easy now, don't twist it into something it isn't ... Bravo for her and all the "hers" who take up flying. I Just noticed the lack of gloves and helmet and wondered a bit what the norm is for high performance warbirds as far as gear. Could have been Santa Claus and I would have stated the same thing.

Don't get me in to no jackpot ... I deal with women daily and ain't looking for no *ss whoopin for stating somthin out of line ... In my world the ladies win every time. 8)

Looking the at the sunrise flight videos, I noticed there was one group of warbirds that were not featured, there was no T-6 formation, what is wrong ? no qualified large formation leader ?

Hi Mark,
Helmets, gloves, and flight suits are all a personal preference. I've seen and know of several high profile warbird owners and operators who wear all the gear sometimes and no gear at other times. The choice of safety gear is certainly everyone's personal choice. I don't wear a helmet, gloves or flight suit every time I'm in a warbird. Some times it's just not practical like in the back seat of our P-51.

It's possible that someone asked her to fly their plane and she didn't have her helmet with her. A lot of pilots don't wear their helmet when their is a lot of photo work to be done. That way you can clearly see that it is them in the cockpit. Gives bragging rights when the pics show up in magazines.
