This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Apologies for the slight derailment but it's not worth starting a whole new thread as it's focused on the Michigan/Wisconson crowd. The 2012 National Cherry Festival Airshow is coming up July 7th & 8th. If anyone is interested, there will be some jets there.

Is this the first time Black Diamond Jet team been to Michigan? Lets hope they have all 7 aircraft for it.
What are the other jets that are supposed to be there?

I don't know if this is the Black Diamonds first festival. When I was active and stationed here the BA's would come here often. It also says the Schetterly's will be there. That is a father and son. The father has an acrobatic and the son is a Capt in the USAF and fly's an A-10 at air shows. At least that's what Google showed. Maybe they do something together?? I live here so maybe I can talk to the CG folks at the air station and see what other jets/aircraft will be here.

I'm pretty sure I recall seeing the Black Diamonds in TC last year, and I think there were only 5 airplanes. No migs. I enjoy the Friday practice while sitting on the beach. No crowds, just sand, water, and airplanes.

Last year they were still called "Heavy Metal Jet Team". I didn't know that they went to Michigan though before. I thought they mainly stayed around the Southeast but they did go to the Atlantic City Airshow in August and by then they had 1 Mig that Snodgrass flew. I am assuming last year at TC they flew the 4 L-39s in camo colors and Snodgrass flew a black L-39. The second Mig was added this year and I believe the 2 Migs together debuted at the Friday Sun N Fun show, and that was the only day the 2 Migs went up because weather Saturday cancelled their demo and Sunday only went up with 3 L-39s and 1 Mig.
I have yet to see all 5 L-39s and 2 Migs go up. At Titusville FL airshow in March they used 3 L-39s while Snodgrass flew in a gray camo T-33
I said I wasn't interested in seeing L-39s at Thunder Over Michigan. I take that back if it is the Black Diamond Jet Teams L-39s (as long as they bring the 2 Migs and the T-33 also).

It seems some folks here have an interest in the jets and an interest if a certain jet team were to show up in MICHIGAN and/or THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN. Last I checked, that seems topic related to me. Geeez....

Only one of the five posts preceding mine even mentioned T.O.M.

If Thunder Over Michigan ever does the classic jet team or Eastern bloc theme- Black Diamonds would be good to invite with their 5 L-39s and 2 Mig-17s. Who knows what they will have next. Rumors were going around that they were going to go all Mig-17, other rumors were they were going to use F-5s in the future.

Not sure I have seen an A-36 outside of Wright Patt Air Force Museum
any other aircraft types being worked on to be added? Still hoping for some early cold war/Korean/Vietnam era jets.
