Your source might be thinking of this PV-1 abandonned at Talasea and still largely intact (though the turrets appear missing).

As a Burbank, CA resident I always wondered what Lockheed's manufactures dataplate looked like. Since I would guess this aircraft was manufactured at the Burbank plant could you post a picture of the plate if it's not too much trouble?

There were two data plates on our Harpoon and one is missing. Here is a shot of the one plate. The other one, the MAA plate, was mounted just below and you can see the screws and where it used to be.
