And as far as the Cub video, I read waaaaay back when this happened that it was a fatality. Could be wrong though.

Not to worry, I saw this clip years ago on RealTV (or something of the sort)...the end of the clip has an interview with the Cub victim in the hospital. He suffered a pretty severe head injury, but I believe made a full recovery.

I saw that! How 'bout the first solo-jump chutist who was yee-hawwing all
the way down..he got so excited, he hit chute release and fell into the trees..
lucky sucker made it, though!

Great shot of the Mustang, Gary!

Either way, I was hopeful that with all of the awesome photographers on this site, someone else would have better low pass pictures than the one I took that they could add.

Here is another, only with a real plane :P

I just saw everyone getting in an uproar about the low passes on another thread and was trying to just get back to everyone here having fun with these ol' airplanes, and not arguing with one another

Yup more suspensions coming in that thread

cheers Dave C

If it ain't a Mustang, it ain't a figher... much less an airplane. : )

Now, please let me go and find shelter before the barrage begins : )

Here's the "after" shot I breifly described yesterday. It's not great, but was taken as I was literally in mid-jump  ........

One thing that was funny was that when I went back to tell everyone how low he was and that I had to jump out of the way, well, they thought I was exaggerating. Well, it just so happened that we had a video camera mounted in the vertical fin of Lewis' airplane and Nelson just happened to have it running at the time. We watched the video, and even though there was a tiny little image at the end of the runway (no short jokes here), it quickly got large, and at the very end (we viewed it frame by frame) you could see me lower the camera from my face (just after that first photo that's on this thread was taken), then a look of horror, followed by my tubby little self jumping off to the side.

It wasn't the clearest video, but it did back up my story to the guys about how low he was......well, that and the pictures I took.

3 stories I heard, not verified: Acro pilot with wingwalker on top wing did an inverted pass at Reno, got too low with tragic results. An airline pilot new to prop fighters got too nose low on takeoff, shortening the prop blades by 2 inches, then flew around the pattern and landed with no problem. Doug Schultz came out of a loop, got too low and hit the tailpipe of a Mig on the ground before climbing away and landing safely. I saw the photo of this with the nose up and the tail in the dirt. No matter how low you go, you are only likely to tie the record for low pass.
