Speaking of tagging, the building I work in most of the time is a frequent target... Partly due to the neighborhood we're near. A couple of us who have had the privlege of painting the stuff out have had all kinds of ideas of how to stop them, my personal favorite being to set up a webcam system linked to some remote control paintball guns and have a website where folks could pay to "watch" our building when the system is turned on. There would be warning signs posted around and anyone seen during hours of operation (ie. dark) would be fair game...
At any rate I had a ton of fun yesterday. At first I thought I heard someone banging on the building, but then thought something was wrong, so I looked around the corner and spotted what looked like a late 80s conversion van which I guessed was dumping trash into our dumpster (another pet peeve). On closer inspection however, there were 3 San Antonio Police Dept. guys who had several taggers who'd been caught under their supervision and they were making them cover all the grafitti on the building! Said that they do some every Wednesday and that they thought they'd caught one of the groups in our area doing it (I think that there's another still). Anyway, it was REAALLLLLYYY Nice to see some of those guys actually making proper restitution and painting over their mess. And I was glad not to have to go out in the heat and take care of someone else's stupidity.

I think my .303 British with a 180 grain bullit to their knee's would be proper for these di(kheads! I was having a good day until I found out this news! Makes me sick!!

I beleive a stricked law should be in place for vandels and griffity pukes! Especually on historical artifacts such as warbirds that fought for our country!

Have you heard of the internet hunting via webcam? You pay a fee to hunt deer with a remotely controlled rifle. How about a remotely controlled paintball gun with a night vision sight attached? You'd make tens of thousands of dollars a year!

Or could also be a tag designed to throw you off the trail of the real culprits.

What does "DK Tulsa" tells you?

And by the way, Invaders also protected many countries south of the border.

Defacing and even destroying aircraft is not exclusively a U.S. event.

In the U.K. they have set airplanes on fire.

In Latin America, Asia and Africa, many have been blown off with fireworks (as happened to a T-6G in Guatemala) or converted into latrines.

It is in my opinion, a matter of education.

And I agree that harsh punishment should me meted out to those who deface or destroy private property.

Same should happen to those people who throw paint at people wearing fur.

The basic principle of respect to someone else's rights is sorely missing nowadays.

40,000 ? In an A-26 ? They're good, but not that good....

Hopefully the spray can crap can be taken off without damaging the really good paint underneath.

In the early hours after midnight on July 4, 1972 a pretty decent A-26 mounted on pylons at Julia Davis Park in Boise, Idaho was blown in half by vandals with a stick of dynamite (the press said).

On another note an F-86L sat at Gowen Field in those years with the wings sawed off and by 1973 was hauled off to an auto wrecking yard at the east end of the airport.

I lived in Boise from 78-80. And for some reason ( I can't recall why) I found myself in the very same junkyard. The 86 was in real rough shape...lots of holes and missing inspection panels, canopy, radome, etc.
A few feet away were the mortal remains of the Invader. It was just the center section and was completely burnt out. Nothing worth saving.

I recall the remains of the B-25...and from Scott Thompson's excellent book "B-25 in Civil Service" I'm underthe impression that it was reassembled/restored....though I realize it may be a different aircraft.

I will be very close to the Julia Davis Park next week. If you guys know of the precise location of the aircraft, I can go and check to see if it was replaced by something else.

This'd be fun but restraint is the thing. Get the little b*stards working in the hot sun will sort them out.

Scaring the crap out of them would be very satisfying.
