Thanks Junkman9096. I wonder why they were not used in Korea to supplement the P51s?

I've seen this discussed a number of times. Among many reasons it boils down to availability. The Mustang was present in the Western Pacific whereas the P/F- 47s weren't nearly as much. Just months before the start of the war a number of fighter groups were still flying Mustangs but there were still a large number of Mustangs in storage in Japan. A few units returned the F-80s that they had converted to in order to return to those stored Mustangs. Also the support facilities for Mustangs were up and running in theater, not so much for the P-47s. Others will chime in with more information.
