Not sure if I am remembering correctly or it was a dream, but, wasn't Darryl Greenamyer supposed to get a Rex when he donated his Bearcat to the Smithsonian? I seem to remember that it involved the Rex and an XF8F Bearcat. Again, might be remembering totally wrong. Anyone?

No, he got a Grumman Goose that was used in testing various hull designs. I cannot remember offhand where this wound up, but has found a good home.

Greenamyer also traded a Lockheed 1049F Super Constellation for two Grumman HU-16 Albatross amphibians. Guess he liked getting seaplanes from the Smithsonian...

The seaplane that Greenamyer got, along with the XF8F Bearcat (since destroyed in a crash), was the Widgeon known as the "Petulant Porpoise", for a picture see

. Interesting aircraft, now nicely restored and displayed at Pima.

Petulant Porpoise as she is at Pima. They also have a restored alternate hull on display.

I was curious so I had to look this one up. It was F8F-1D, 90446, that crashed on 4 April 2012. It was traded for F8F-2, 121646, which is currently on display at NASM.
