The F9F at Reilly's is a two seater.

My dad and I were actually thinking about trying to acquire a few years ago, and adding it to the Vigilante that is currently at Sanford International Airport (NAS Sanford). My dad has the details, but I believe that F9F actually spent some time at NAS Sanford as well.

I'm 99.95% positive that photo was taken at Reilly's facility. I remember parking right by that gate.

I suppose that it is possible that somebody spent some time on the panels and threw a fresh coat of paint on, however it would have been a lot of work in a short period of time. I've seen it happen with other planes though.

The airframe in the photo I have definitely shows a photo recon version. This one is not. Interesting. Another unidentified airframe?

The two seater for sale is an interesting aircraft and as far as its marketability, could be worth it. The beautiful Whittington -8 that dissapeared was a wonderous thing. A mid fifties navy fighter with two seats! There were no recon variants of the -8, but they were used in combat as FACs for a short time. I know of seven survivors.

This is a pretty rare aircraft, and would be a very cool cruiser for the well heeled. Remember there are no two seat F-86's, and they did not make the Hunter trainer a tandem! They do not come any prettier...

I remember that 2 seater at Reilly's operation in '03ish.
I remember seeing a cougar on ebay as well, but it was a recon model, probably a -6P, as the -8P had a much longer nose with two camera windows on each side. It popped up on and off for awhile, I assumed it finally sold.

Well, there are only so many -6P's survivors. Maybe one of these pics?

That first one is the one I was thinking of Mike, $99K was probably way to high then but almost 10 years down the road with the right group it would be a flyer today!

I would think the two-seater would be more valuable/useful.

Do we know where the Minnesota example in the barn ended up, or is it still there?

That photo is almost 20 years old.The wing to liberty belle is under the tarp to the left in the photo.

This thread is from 2004. The pic with solid blue paint scheme is from the early 2000's. The pic with Blue Angels paint scheme is from 1998.

The B-17 wing under the tarp is from Kermit's "Suzy Q". Liberty Belles were in front of the hangar until they were brought in side to be worked on. The pieces that became the Champaign Lady were stored behind the office. The photo Cougar was a -8P that I think came from NC and was missing the outer wing panels. I don't remember where the TF cougar went.
