That plane never had a "Roman Nose"...

We've got a bunch of pictures of it throughout its service life, and I've never seen it with Roman nose either.

If anyone is interested, a Mr. Jerry Abel has posted a number of pictures and videos on his facebook page, documenting the project from before getting it ready for flight, to fire up to takeoff.

Circa 1997 an A Model was put on display near NSA in Maryland as a memorial to the crew lost when an RC-130 was shot down by the Russians in the early 60s (they do seem to love shooting down unarmed aircraft).
It was still active at that time, before putting it on display they found a set of three-blade "A" props.

I wonder where they found those (does the AF Museum store stuff like that?) and I was impressed that someone notice and took the time to make it correct.

Send me a PM and $100k and you can have your own set of 0 time props.

If you're already a member of that community, please feel free to share it. I can help fill in (most) of the holes. Getting it ready to ferry was just part one. Now we'll have to strip it of all the good working stuff we put on it, then start over with restoration. This is going to be a long ride, and I'll do my best to keep everyone updated.

Nice video and excellent soundtrack! Change the words Chu Lai to Al Taji and MAC to AMC and the song is timeless.

Good news story to see this Herk saved and a Horsemen bird at that, Bravo!

Neat project. It looks like a lot of work...all of the cargo compartment insulation is gone. Too bad you can't get into AMARG and strip what you need out of another Herc...

We've got the insulation, and darn near everything else we'll need. We should be able to put this one back to near complete. :)
