WOW!!! That's a flashback!!! I worked that show as the Ground Boss with David Schultz Airshows. I remember parking Frank Borman in the Mustang. I also remember Lefty in the P-38 buzzing all of us in the big tent after the show was over. I was so upset to hear that the plane went down 2 days later. Glad Ladd was able to get out of it safely. Now flying in Austira as the Red Bull P-38!

Whoa! That's a kick that you're on this board! That was a really great show that year. I was back again in 2003 for the 100th anniversary of flight show, and I'll be posting some pics of that once I get them scanned in. Were you there, too?

So if Lefty was buzzing the tent after the show, I guess it means Frank Borman wasn't in it after all? It was my understanding that Frank Borman was taking the rare chance of getting to be in the cockpit of the P-38, and it wouldn't surprise me that Lefty would then be able to say that an Apollo astronaut had been in his plane! And it was terrible news that she crashed the day after the show was over, but it is great that both the plane and the pilot were both able to see another day.
