Was this Vulcan ever in the US? Seems I remember one at a Scott AFB airshow many moons ago.....Thanks, John

That Vulcan from 101 Squadron returning from Nellis. I, like many others, spent several hours under it grateful for the shade<G>

If many moons ago, you mean between 1968 and 1973 then possibly, as this was the only likely time '558 might have been over in the USA, while it was with the Waddington Bomb Wing.

Likely to have been pre-1982, as there would have been only a handful left in service by then, and no reason for them to have visited the U.S.

Yup, last time Vulcan's in-service, went to the USA was Feb 1982 for Red Flag, when Martin Withers infamously flew his Vulcan below the rim of the Grand Canyon en-route into Nellis AFB. Martin Withers went on to captain, the first Black Buck Vulcan bombing raid on the Falkland Islands a few months later, and is still today, over 30 years later, flying a Vulcan as one of the cadre of display pilots of Vulcan XH558.
