Pretty sure the pilot of this aircraft is Bob Treat and it was taken June 4, 1946 over Ohau. He was flying out of Ford island. Your quote said Okinawa.

My quote wrong? It happens, rarely but it happens
Thx for the correction.

That's part of the Joe Genne collection, more Corsair and numerous other photo's here.

Mark,
Re: the guy crouched on the ground, I think that is some sort of APU. I would expect to see a reserve tank if it was for hydraulics.

Or maybe a preolier for the engine...

I'd guess Hyd Mule based on the size of the hoses. 60 weight oil isn't going to flow down the larger hose very well, particularly one that long.
My Hyd Mule doesn't have a tank but connects to the airframe supply and pressure connections on the firewall. P-51 has quick disconnects on the firewall and you connect to the same point the engine driven pump connects to.
IIRC the Corsair has QDs as well. This vintage of Corsair didn't have an onboard electric aux pump, just the hand pump in the cockpit. If they needed to fold or unfold wings or operate flaps to make adjustments I could see them using an electric pump like this.

Finally some proof of why the Corsair was given the name "whistling death" ... great video!
