1. How did you hear about a B-29 specifically? My unit would deploy down there for periods of time to play in the Jungle and Swim in the Caribbean. We would be going out into the harbor from Ft. Sherman and "Swim" back in from an LCM. As I was a diver AND a pilot, I asked if there were any WWII A/C located in the area. The deck hands and also the local (US Army) dive club talked about it being inside the breakwater(I think) on the Ft. Sherman side.

2. About how deep is this aircraft located in the water since the locals did dome diving? 30 - 40 feet?

3. Where in the Port of Colon area West or East of the city is this aircraft located? Off of Ft. Sherman

4. How far fm the coast?? Less than a mile

5. Do you have pictures of the apprx area?? On Google Earth 9 22" 20.44 N 79 55' 42.28" W

Tks for the info & data.

If you can get a hold of your Army diving folks for some pics that would be great. How did they id the aircraft as a B-29??

p.s Did they mention any markings at all??

H-19 Folks/Stoney:

Found a FAG H-19 in a previous scheme as FAG 110. S/N Ukn for now. However, it is suspected to an X FAH H-19 that ended -up in La Aurora, Guatemala c. late 1960s. Photo via FMAH.
