Feel pretty lucky to have seen it flown so well over the years. Sorry to see it go.

I wonder why Vintage wings didnt buy it and restore the middle section. You think it would have been easy for them.

To be fair there is already two Hurricane's at Vintage Wings. If I recall correctly the current airworthy Hurricane they have will be for sale when the one they under restoration is complete (I think I heard this when I toured the hangar?).

Yes, we've got a lot on our plate already with restorations. The Spit IX is ramped-up, and the new wings should be ready by Oct. And we may start assembling the Hurri XII very soon. Plus we're searching the nooks and crannies of the aviation world for Pegasus cylinders for the Swordfish. And some other stuff...

We'd certainly look at a contract repair if anyone wanted us to rebuild a Hurri center section -- that's why we built the jig.

I got a checkout in the Hurri IV last year and flew it at our airshow in the Fall (2012).

This year I didn't get on it until a post-maintenance flight 2 weeks ago -- good fun! It's an odd airplane. Very 1930s-British. Takes a while to get past feeling fumble-fingered.

As Dave said the centre section was a very difficult build, this is the one from the VWC Mk XII when we first removed it. The corrosion is hidden in the four horizontal structural tubes and very difficult to find until the section is totally stripped down. Sorry I didn't catch you in the cockpit Dave but just noticed I got your helmet!

I certainly hope not! I would think VWoC would see the beauty in a 3 spit vs. 2 hurri ratio. With the Russell Group now downsizing, it would be a shame to loose another Hurricane from the area!
