Warbird Information Exchange

Saw one flying two weeks ago. It is painted solid white. Not in the U.S.

NASA WB-57F's, they have flown several overseas missions (including in Afghanistan) for different U.S. agencies including the DoD.

Thanks for the WK163 mention Firebird, it just triggered my memory, I enjoyed seeing Classic Flight's airplane flying at Elvington air show in 2000.

The link above is pretty interesting. I wonder what happened to the airplane after that. I'm sure someone knows.

I dug (literally) through a lot of issues of Sport Aviation and found this announcement that it would be at OSH 1994 along with a lot of other cool jets...

Sorry to advise that I think the Temora Aviation Museum Canberra has been grounded since 2010. It was about this time that this & some of the other airworthy aircraft were grounded due to what I understand were operating cost issues?

I think it may be maintained in an airworthy state with engine runs etc being regularly carried out & it's registration is also maintained, but as mentioned, no flying.

Getting back onto the original thread... can anyone provide any info on the current status of the Canberra A84-229?

I heard somewhere that Australian GAF (Government Aircraft Factory) Canberra's were more susceptible to corrosion issues than other Canberra's?

SORRY to hear that! Hope they can get it back in the air someday. I imagine Canberras are not the most inexpensive or easiest to maintain civilian owned jet warbirds to keep flying. Hope we eventually have more than just the one in the UK flying.

Thanks for the plug there Errol. Noel gives a really interesting insight into test flying the Canberra, doesn't he? It sounded like a bloody dangerous job!
