I can't imagine what he's going to do next, but I am sure it'll be amazing.

Funny you should state that Clay because I was thinking the same thing about you
You're one of the honorably rare breed (teachers) who gets to point young one's in the same direction as Mr. Hadfield's dreams. To me that's amazing as well.

Thanks, Mark. If I can produce just one superstar/asronaut as a teacher I'll be doing pretty good lol!

Chris Hadfield is quite an inspiration. Obviously he comes from a talented family!

Hi guys,

Sorry I didn't get on this earlier -- a bit distracted.

Huge, gigantic, overwhelming sigh of relief yesterday. An absolutely overpowering catharsis.

You know, for pilots, it's always easier to fly a difficult airplane yourself than to watch a loved one fly it.

Anyway, yes, it's a wonderful video. And it's not the only music he was making while in space.

Here's the first song ever recorded from space, the first actual planned song recording, by anyone, ever.

No question about it, Chris is one of the finest astronauts ever for bringing us along for the ride. Thanks for posting, Muddy! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I spoke to Chris yesterday. He's in fine sprits. He's only now coming to understand the impact he had on people.

The one-way valves in his legs that control blood flow up and down are not yet working again with full efficiency. He has to be careful when he bends over, or stands up. His tailbone hurts from not being sat upon for 5 months. His back is a bit sore. Standard stuff for long-duration astronauts.

When we spoke he was out walking the dogs, so his recovery is well along.

But he now realizes all doors are open to him.

A few years ago a mutual childhood friend came up with a name for Chris: "The Great Communicator". I think he nailed it.

Indeed.

You will have seen this of course, but for those who haven't, one of the nicer and more thoughtful articles about Chris was in Time magazine a few days ago.

I think NASA should put him in charge of PR with a healthy budget and total autonomy. Bet it'd prove the wisest money they've spent in a good many years.

The guitar has been knocking around on the ISS for a while. Chris tells the story here:

As you might imagine, the guitar maker has announced a special-edition production run of this custom model.
