Why do they have to assemble it and leave it parked outside? Why not store the parts in a much smaller area (hangar/warehouse) that is climate controlled, until a suitable permanent hangar is completed?

Greater things should have happened to that plane than ending up at a museum most of us will never see like maybe the USAFM.The damage the plane received while being disassembled and removed from the swamp was pretty bad so it was better while it was sitting in the swamp.

The last time i was on ford island there were a couple of nice big hangars there that were next to empty and had been that way for quite a while. Certainly there was enough room to get a B-17 inside. Probably wont be going inside for quite a while by the sounds of it.

i dont think mike or hang the expense are Justin taylan!!!! :axe:
but leaving the ghost outside is nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!in png she was in a fresh water swamp....ford island salt air.......does not fill me with confidence for a long preservation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm glad she's not in the swamp but there has to be a better home!!!

Storing an airplane beside the ocean, is just marginally better than storing it in the ocean! :shock:
