Already saw one oops on the trailer. Wrong National insignia on the C-54. Figure someone would have caught that?

Good catch! You would think they would have got that right, September 1945 is 2 to 3 years before they were changing the National insignia to include the red bar. Maybe they can edit that before the release of the movie.

As long as they get the 1945 forbidden interracial love story correct, the rest is just fluff.

I really hope they change it. I know it doesn't mean a whole lot in the huge scheme of the move but with my twisted Warbird OCD, I'd be thinking the whole move, "that's the wrong insignia, that's the wrong insignia"!!!!! I know I'm sick! Someone most have seen a picture of MacArthur getting off a plane in Korea?

That's why I hated Red Tails. Was all about the romance and the poor portrayal of all sides , making the bomber pilots look like scared little kids, the German fighter pilots like incompetent villains. The Luftwaffe pilots (Goering aside) were competent and for the most part well behaved. And the Red Tails as a bunch of undisciplined alcoholics.

Between Red Tails and Pearl Harbor I've given up on watching a good WW2 movie. I'll stick to 12 O'Clock high and Tora Tora Tora. The romance in Midway was at the level that I could stand, mentioned it but not focused on it.

OK, judge for yourself:

I'm a little suspicious about the flap position in the third picture

The C-54 is all CGI. Granted it is some of the best CGI to date! Much better than the B-17's in RT.

Agreed. It's a really good rendering, but the reflections in the metal just don't quite hold up to close inspection. I hope they fix that insignia, but the film is likely "in the can" by now, and I doubt they'd want to go to the trouble and expense. I remember I got a chuckle out of the XF-11 sequence in "The Aviator" a few years back..the mockup shown taxiing out for takeoff had the wartime insignia, but after takeoff someone must have crawled outside and added the red stripes. Of course all the flying shots of the XF-11 were CGI, so it was just a simple continuity error.

I'd look again. Not all of it is CGI.

Acutally, they built a very large R/C XF-11 for the movie. Here's some behind the scenes video of it, the Spruce Goose and the model of the H1 racer.

It is a real shame that you have all these producers using more computer graphics than ever before which I personally think it makes the movie look crap.

Red tails I watched a whole 20 mins before I turned it off.
C-54, notice how the props look feathered on landing!

When was the last time you could look in the front of an R-2000 cowling and see out the back past the cowl flaps? And what's with those 'artsy' cooler scoops under the engines, the 'HUH? say what' carb intakes, and no one caught the 1948 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL in the convoy of vehicles?
Is the movie about the Emperor of Japan or the Emperor of the U.S. Army? It's no wonder Jones was such an A $ $ @ the Golden Globes, staying in character.
