I hope that nobody minds my photos. First time that I have seen FiFi in the air where she belongs.

Will someone please thank the P-47 pilots for me for that perfect formation photo pass on Saturday. They did an excellent job on that one. Seriously. Most formations have one plane hidden behind another. This team had them spaced perfectly spaced.

Also the Valiant aerobatic display was very much enjoyed. I have never seen a Valiant displayed like that. Harvards yes. Not the Vibrator.

SAT show was indeed better than SUN, due to the drastically downsized 2nd warbird run.
SAT, a P-38, Corsair, 2 P-47's and 2 B-25's did multiple passes, SUN only the P-38 flew.
Obviously they must have had their reasons, and airshow acts of course are never guaranteed. Corsair cut out early, and gusty winds may have been a factor.

I wish at least 1 of the F-18's would have done some passes, but I'm sure thats out of the hands of the show organizers.
I stayed after the show and at least saw 2 of them take off and come back and did a formation pass before heading home.
Also saw the F-5, Harrier, a few mustangs and Fifi heading for home.

I watched Saturday show from the inside, watched Sunday show from outside on Ecorse Rd. I agree, at least from what I saw also Saturday blew Sunday away, except more sun for Sunday.

11 Mustangs went up Saturday, only 9 went up Sunday. Just like everyone else said only the P-38 flew on Sunday, but he did nicer passes and a little bit or aerobatics. The P-47s took off before the Mustangs went up, the Corsair left before the MH-60 went up. I don't know why Yankee Lady, Warrior and Georgie didn't go up - as Yankee Warrior and Lady were giving rides right before and after it. It often is the case that the Sunday show isn't as good as Saturday so thats why I pay for the Saturday show and then watch Sunday for free on Ecorse. I arrived on Ecorse today about ten minutes before Fifi went up, but there seemed to be a lag then. I was driving on Ecorse and didn't see any planes flying, then I got on Ecorse and parked and people I talked to had arrived about the same time as me and said they hadn't seen anything either for a while. I got there late because the weather was overcast and rainy in the morning and I didn't mind missing the T-6s and other training planes that are here every year and was hoping to get there at least in time for the Mustangs, by then it was sunny.

Did the Coast Guard Dolphin fly today too? It had a mechanical on Saturday and had to land.

Georgie's Gal took off for home about the same time as the P-47's and Corsair did. I originally thought the P-47's were starting up to strafe the second ground reenactment but they never returned. It would have been nice for it all to fly like it did yesterday, especially if you only went on Sunday, but I thought it was nice to see the P-38 do a solo act too. Living in the midwest I've seen quite a bit of Corsair and B-25 flying and have seen the P-47's fairly regularly, but it's been six years since I've seen a P-38.

The Dolphin didn't fly today because of whatever mechanical problem they had yesterday.

I thought the P-47 formation passes were pretty impressive too!

We had a great time at Thunder. So glad I went back on Sunday. Light was much better by noontime and sunny all afternoon. Flying was great but missed the B-25s, Corsair and Thunderbolts. With that said the P-38 put on a great show and filled the gap well.

What was the total Mustang count? Did it beat the 22 or 23 that were at Oshkosh?

August

Definitely not - I think about 14 if I am counting right. Only 11 flew on Saturday - Carmen, Gentleman Jim and D Model Old Crow didn't fly, trying to think what else didn't go up. 9 flew on Sunday, don't believe either Roush plane (Old Crow B model and Gentleman Jim went up. They were towed back to the hangar on Saturday, not sure if they came back to the ramp Sunday because neither flew to my knowlwedge, but D model Old Crow flew Sunday

My first "you tube" uploads so "they is what it is" pop2 . I was in the battles so after I got shot I went over by the concrete plant and took these. Does anyone know how I can edit the trash out? Hope you don't get seasick

The quest for the perfect shot

A big thank you to Jeff, Tom, and all the photo staff at TOM this year. It was a very enjoyable, and hot, day on the ramp. I look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

Thanks,
Rick
