No beat up on the EAA admin, plenty to do, and I don't know what they're working from, but you read it here first, guys.

First off, I'm an ancient lurker, but this is my first post on WIX. Hopefully, my buddy Zack will vouch for me over here... :)

Anyway, thanks for calling this out. I'm happy to tell you that the award page has been updated to demonstrate our awareness of the good people of Australia! Our apologies to Guy for the mishap - I don't have direct visibility to the notes my colleague was working from, but I'm willing to bet there was an abbreviation that looked like "VA."

Thanks again, and thanks to everyone at WIX for providing such a rich resource to the warbird (and vintage aircraft) community.

I'll only vouch for you if you let me wear your Rocketeer helmet to work for a day.

Hal is one of the good guys at EAA. Welcome to WIX my friend! :drink3:

And there is a warbird connection - the ever-so nice Mr Bourke ~hem~ flies some things called Spitfires and Mustangs when back in 'Straya...

A long time ago, I got my initial PADI SCUBA certification while I was on a trip to Jamaica. When I saw the paperwork, I remember being perplexed that the "state" part of the form was filled in with "WI".

It was quite a while later before I realized that meant "West Indes" and not a norther-tier state in the US.

Abbreviations that may be very obvious to folks at particular locations outside the US (for example, VA meaning 'Victoria, Australia') may be misinterpreted by people living in the United States.

The abbreviation for Victoria, Australia, is 'Vic' or 'VIC'. 'VA' has no currency here; you'd write either 'Vic, Aus', or 'Vic' or 'Aus'. Generally when overseas Australians are usually also aware of the Provincial capital of British Columbia is Victoria (a city) a reasonable risk of confusion for our state of Victoria, so someone like an airline pilot (as a non-random example) is quite careful as to what they might put on an address.

But postal details are not really relevant here, and a big thanks to Hal for putting it right - that's what counts!

Regards,

I'll probably get slammed for this comment, but is there an award for everyone who comes to Oshkosh? :)

I had no idea there were that many different categories.

No. Because as we found out first-hand, there is no plaque for "Best ex-Canadian Armed Forces CT-33".

Thanks for the thought, but I'm ok with that. As we used to say in college, what she lacks in "pretty" she makes up for in athleticism.

BTW, I won the Osh Kosh award again for "Best Stealth Skyraider", the 8th year in a row.

No she went "freestyle", a pure athlete.

Mark, again more confirmation you are a wise man on these matters.

Eric, it's the era of "everyone gets a trophy".
