A friend sent me a gift that arrived early, but they said not to open it until Christmas... you don't know how hard it is to keep from yankin' that wrapper off... I can't imagine what it could possibly be, and the suspense is just killin' me!

Yes it is. I can only assume there isnt room in that particular hangar for both the 29 and the 17 to be stored.

I think they are kept in Clay Lacys hanger across the field as a sort of courtesy arrangement since he also has the DC-2. The 'BEE' isn't weather proof and to keep it from filling up with Seattles world famous liquid sunshine (and screwing up the completed interior restoration) , they try to keep it out of serious downpour times. The DC-2 is also not known for it's weather proof construction so it goes in out of the rain too, plus Lacy has corporate customers who like to have their stove oil converter expanded egos parked out of the elements too.

While I haven't seen it in person yet, I believe I read the B-29 is where Boeing Bee was parked in front of the museum. I assume Boeing Bee is back in Clay Lacy's hangar. The B-29 was at Galvin as far as I had known. I just hope they focus on fundraising for a home for these icons next. The space gallery opened a couple weeks ago with just a few displays until the Fuselage Trainer among other things arrive or get moved there.

I would gladly send a few bucks their way if they do conduct a fundraiser.

And I'm sure GALVINS needs the space now that flight training has slowed down, to do annuals, updates, engine changes, and preventive maintenance on their sizeable fleet.

At least NOT getting a Shuttle (they are getting a training mock-up) should free funds and space for aircraft...the product that made Seattle famous...(before overpriced coffee and software). :D

From what I understand, the next priority after the Space Gallery is the Commercial Aircraft Gallery, which is to be built where the Connie, 727, 737, 747, Concorde, and VC-137 currently sit. After that, a Military Gallery is planned. I have been told that it will have room for the 17, 29, 47, and 52 that they have up in Everett.

It has been awhile since I have heard anything about this, though. Hopefully it is still in the works. I know that Boeing donated a large chunk of land adjacent to the Airpark a couple of years ago, so they have the room for the expansions. All they need now is the funds...
