I also doubt an F-84 will ever leave the ground again either, but starting an endevour out wrong and getting 'acceptable' results will then make you think 'I've done this before' and screw up an airworthy canopy or windshield on a flying restoration. Better to start out doing it right and continuing to do it correctly and I'd hate to see anyone attack cockpit glass and mess it up, easier to start out correctly than to try to 'untrain' and retrain later for poor techniques.
