Oh, I agree the blue version looks really cool..I just don't believe it's historically accurate.

All the serious research points to Lou IV being two different shades of green/brown.

Craig Quattlebaum has just done this wonderful model which perhaps shows how she really looked...

We are building a P-51 cockpit section as a tribute to Colonel Thomas JJ Christian and it is going to look very much like Craig's model.

Now that's a cool model project! I assume it's fiberglass..did you take molds off an actual Mustang?

I built a model of it too recently, and I say it looks blue! :wink:

Steve,

Yes its a fibre glass fuselage made from gateguards UK who took a mold from the P-51 at the RAF Museum at Cosford.

We have collected a large number of original items to fit it out inside but are still on the hunt for for the following items if anyone can help: :drink3:

N9 gunsight
canopy rails
canopy latches
throttle quadrant
SCR 522 radio
radio rack
fuselage fuel tank
IFF box

Any help very much appreciated.
