Ah, I wondered where it went to - it sat on the ramp at VNY just outside my office window for the past few weeks.

I believe there's still one more at VNY. Originally I heard that it was destined for the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island, is that still the plan?

If the information in this link is accurate (picked it up from a post on AirShowBuzz), it looks like the LAST A-3 at VNY departed for North Island on June 28 on its FINAL flight. This is the one destined for the Pacific Aviation Museum and it sounds like it will likely be going by ship to Hawaii at some point.

What a SHAME. The Centennial of Naval Aviation and the Navy went OUT of its way to make sure almost no one new about or saw these final flights.

[quote="RickHNope, NOT rhetorical at all, I've seen what happens to aircraft that are flown in. They are left outside until they NEED restoration, instead of putting them inside right away on display ! The S-3 that was NAVY 1 is a prime example, the last TA-4 that flew in from Meridian is another, so is the PB4Y that was flown in from Greybull, the C-1A from the Lexington, shall I go on ?

Rick H, I am pretty sure that NMNA would have loved to place those aircraft inside, but were out of room. Now they have the hangar space to move some of those aircraft indoors right away. I also know of a flying museum that left a B-25 outside for many years on a ramp in Pittsburgh. So sometimes it's not that they don't want to get it under a roof, they just can't.
