@Tim APNY : will let you know.. (most probably may/June)

@LysanderUK : Flying Legends. I don't think so. By the time these words a written the bird is alredy on it's way to Fighter Factory Virginia.

@Seafury1 nice pics! I've seen some A2A of this bird from Paul Bowen and frm O' Leary as well.
I ' ve seen a couple of these Flugwerk birds and although they are all the same they do have different engines istalled as well as different cooling systems fitted. Frascas 190 has an Pratt&Whittney ? engine and the oilcooler air intake under the wings.

Jeagen FW has no american engine and the oilcooler intake is actually where the 20 mm canon had been and the corsair oil coolers are in the wingroot on top os the wing.

the remainig FW have a ring oil cooler in front of the engine and beeing tested right know.

Many different systems for the same airplane.

Is it more the size difference between the original BMW engine and the Ash-82 / P&W options that necessitates the major redesign of the oil cooling systems, or is it other factors? I've been perplexed as to why Focke Wulf's original engineering is so completely inadequate for these alternate engines. It kinda stinks that no one is able to utilize the machinegun positions just forward of the windscreen to full effect too. 8)

And what about that amazingly complex control system that helped automate the 190's mixture, manifold pressure, and blower adjustments...or something to that effect. How exactly did Flug Werk work around the absence of those original (unobtanium) black boxes?

@Cosmicwind: Great pics of a stunning bird, very well done, A2A pics are indeed a different pair of shoes compared to pics taken from groundlevel.
@Rob Mears: AFAIK it has to do with the (unique?) feature of the BMW 801 used in the original Focke-Wulf Fw 190 ies. It had a fan just behind the prop driven 3 times the rotation of the prop by a gearbox to cool the engine and oil. It "pressed" a huge amount of air under the specially formed inside of the cowling. Additionally there was a so called "Nasenring" (nosering) which could be opened/closed to control the amount of airflow. I think the different kinds of cooling solutions used for the Flugwerk planes were/are necessary as there are no engines with an approximately 1:3 gearbox, or any gearbox at all available.
Regarding the so called "Kontrollgerät" I do believe they just used standard control items. But I certainly do not know for sure.

That's a remarkable photo, by far the best I've yet seen of this bird. Blurring the prop takes away the visually distracting fourth blade, and it's easy to see this scene as taken in 1943 instead of 2011. Absolutely spectacular work, Uwe!

Lynn

this one does have a 3 blade wooden prop. I had a hard time in the air as it was bumpy as heck.
This shot is virtually the only one where the prop is actually not frozen.
Thanks for your nice comment.

Uwe

That's fantastic news... if you shot these recently, then I suppose that means they've sorted out the issues with the 3 blade prop and refitted it. All the photos uploaded by Mattias Dorst (sorry if I got your name wrong, mate!) from late last year showed it with the 4-blade prop fitted after the French 190 took a bath.

Thanks for the info, and congrats again on a truly outstanding photo!

Yes, indeed they did. The "new" or revised 3 bladers (I believe it was related to the blade moving mechanism of the hub)were sent to several Flugwerk Kit Customers in (November?), December and January AFAIK.
