Here is a neat fact about that airplane. The armor plate behind the pilot's head is signed by one of my favorite people, 61st FS veteran Russ Kyler. In a funny coincidence, he was visiting Duxford at the same time as one of my Timeless Voices volunteers and friend Eric Rood, and Eric has photos of Russ signing the armored plate. I hope to see that plane in person sometime in the next few years!

Where are you guys getting the "Curtis" reference from? I'm not seeing anything jumping out to me, at least.

Of course the handwritten P-47 was pretty blatant.

Here is photo from Curtiss Co. files, dated May 27,1944
Note: There is a hand-written "206" on bottom of cowl.

Django ~ the pic with parts on shelving has a big clue ~ it shows the aircraft registration :D

So with this piece on info ..... its a quick search on "G-INFO" ( pun intended ~ it's Friday ! )

http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?c ... ataindex=4

It will be the only Curtis built P-47 that's airworthy anywhere when it's finished ( as far as I know )

Matt ~ up 'til now I've always assumed that the POF P-47 was Republic built but as it's registered as a G model ~ it too must be a Curtis built airplane !

Thanks for the input ~ I've learnt something today ! :D

Greetings,

It's nice to see Lil Demon getting all the TLC she deserves. But I do have one question. If Lil Demon is, as someone put it, "the only Curtiss built P-47" then what of the other Razorback, owned and operated by POF. It was my understanding, and if I am I wrong I will admit it I was wrong, that the only two Razorback's flying up until Lil Demon went across the pond, were both Curtiss built examples. Was I wrong ?

As a side note, as to the lineage of the Razorback projects that, I believe WestPac are going to get into and believe that there are 3 of them, would I be wrong in assuming that those aircraft with a combat history would be of Republic manufacture ?
