How I wish dad would have written down the names of the guys in his photo's.

Taken at 3-Mile strip outside Port Moresby , late fall of 42' Dad is on the right in the dark flight suit with his hands crossed. To his right, in the front, is Miles "Skid" Rowe. "Skid" was lost on the Nov 2, 43' attack on shipping in Simpson Harbor, Rabaul.

Those darn T-6 Zeros strike again

You see those darn T-6 zeros in action almost as often as you see the Dauntlesses dive bombing Pearl harbor. Anybody ever notice the film footage of the perfect spread of bombs being dropped on some grove of trees.almost anytime they talk about strategic bombing on some TV show, they show the footage of this perfect spread upon some orchard or tree grove. gotta deny the enemy oranges or olive oil or whatever strategic fruit was being grown

How about the pair of P-47's breaking away from a "firing pass" towards the B-17s in "12 O'Clock High"(the movie) in a couple of the battle scenes? There are also a couple shots of jugs firing- guns, leading edges & noses only, so you can't see the unescorted bombers are being attacked by P-47s!

The Lockheed could be a B-34.
